Gibson SG Diablo

December's Guitar of the Month from Gibson.
The SG Diablo - Gibson's Guitar of the Month for December 2008 - offers a refined approach to the classic guitar that has been offering up scorching leads and heavy chords for over four decades. The top and back are carved from solid mahogany for thick, warm tones that are signature SG with special accent placed on the contour of the SG's distinct lines, lending an almost 3-dimensional look to the SG Diablo. With only 1,000 of these elegant beasts being made, the SG Diablo is certain to be a serious collector's item.

Everything that makes the SG a classic
From the horned mahogany body to the rounded mahogany neck, the SG Diablo is classic SG through and through. Gibson's Burstbucker pickups - a No. 1 in the neck, and a No. 2 in the bridge - give the SG Diablo the subtle variations of true, vintage humbucker tone with historically "unmatched" bobbin windings and Alnico II magnets, just like the original PAFs in the Gibsons of the late 1950s and early 1960s. Gibson's traditional round neck profile and rosewood fingerboard enhances the guitars resonance and sustain and secures its reputation as one of the fastest guitar necks in the world.

Unique touches
The top and back of the Diablo's mahogany body is carved to accent the contour of the SG's distinct lines, giving the guitar a 3-dimensional appearance from afar. The Diablo's controls have been streamlined to one volume and one tone in addition to the standard 3-way switch. The volume control has also been moved closer to the bridge pickup for easy access and volume swells. The SG Diablo also takes the SG's 24-3/4" scale length mahogany neck and adds two additional frets - for a total of 24 - allowing an even higher register of notes from a guitar already known for its searing lead-playing capacity.

Collector's item
Being a member of Gibson's Guitar of the Month, collectability down the road is a given. Add to this the fact that the SG Diablo is loaded with unique touches that set it apart from other members of the SG family, again bolstering its status as a collectible. Finally, with only 1,000 of these guitars available, SG fans the world over will be scrambling to get their hands on one of these fire-breathing beauties. Don't let your chance to grab this unique SG pass you by!
